May CGGE Challenge – "Summer Fun"

School is almost out, families are planning vacations, and people and their pets are outdoors enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. Everywhere we look flowers are in bloom, trees are full, and the grass is green. Summer is almost here and the fun begins…..
This month’s CGGE Challenge has as its theme, "Summer Fun" so take time out and head for the studio. The challenge begins May 1 and ends at midnight on May 25th. Each CGGE member may submit one entry only in stained, fused, lampworked or mosaic glass. This entry must be listed for sale in their Etsy shop. All entries are to be posted to the CGGE Challenge Group on Flickr.
Voting is open to all Etsy and Flickr members. The winner will be featured on our CGGE front page.

We had a wonderful turnout this month showcasing 24 unique and beautiful designs by our CGGE artists.

Congratulations go to Florence of Niven Glass Originals for her winning entry, “Dogwood Blossoms”.

Florence has been a glass artist since 2000. Originally she was an illustrator for a greeting card company for about 10 years before she started working with glass. During that time she painted many florals. You can see the natural progression of that work showing up in her glass work these days. Florence can always be found with her sketchbook ready to document her ideas that are inspired by nature, artwork, fashion and magazines.
