Get started on December/January's Challenge....“Resolutions & New Beginnings"

“Resolutions & New Beginnings”…………..

It is almost the end of the year and the holidays are here. It is a time to enjoy family, friends and feasting. It is also a time to reflect on the past year and to look forward to the new year ahead bringing with it new ideas, hopes, goals and resolutions.

Our CGGE December challenge theme is “Resolutions & New Beginnings”. With this theme in mind as inspiration, put on your thinking caps and use your artistic and creative talents to design a work that embodies your hopes, goals and wishes for 2009!

The contest begins December 1 and ends promptly at midnight January 15th. Each member may submit one entry only in stained, fused, lampworked or mosaic glass. This entry must be listed for sale in your Etsy shop. All entries are to be posted to the CGGE Challenge Group site on Flickr.

Voting will be open to all Etsy members and all Flickr members. We hope that, by allowing Flickr members to vote, we will draw more members to our CGGE and Etsy shops. The winner of the challenge will be featured on our CGGE Home Page.

November Challenge

The winner of our November Challenge is Stacey with JSGlassart. Congratulations Stacey!
November’s challenge showcased 27 entries from the members of CGGE. Thanks to all of you who entered in the contest. All of the entries were extraordinary examples of the diverse talent found within our group of artists. Several techniques utilizing fused, lampwork and stained glass were evident in this challenge. The winter theme brought out some wonderful ideas using dichroic glass especially. The Creative Glass Guild of Etsy is an amazing group of glass artists sharing their talents and ideas in a friendly and supportive environment and we thank all of you who participate in making CGGE what it is today.

November Challenge!

Winter:
That magical time of year when the landscape changes to a crystalline vision of snowy lanes in the North, and perhaps a holiday-festooned palm tree for those in the South! Wherever you celebrate winter, CGGE wants you to look to the 4th season to find inspiration for the November challenge. Have fun celebrating the holidays, re-create a frosty scene in glass, turn down the temperature of your studio if you have to! Just feel winter in your bones and translate that to some beautiful challenge entries!

The contest begins November 1 and ends promptly at 11:59 PM on November 25th.
Each member may submit one entry only in stained, fused, lampworked or mosaic glass.
The entry must be listed in your Etsy shop.
All entries are to be posted to the CGGE Challenge Group site on Flickr.

Voting will be open to all Etsy members and the winner of the challenge will be featured on our CGGE Home Page.

So CGGE artists, let old man winter inspire you and create!

A Tie Vote!

A Tie Vote!

Voting for the 15 entries in the October “Thankful for” Challenge has resulted in not one but two winners.
We had a tie vote between jsglassart and fireandicedesigns.
Congratulations to them both for their beautiful entries:
Jsglassart: “Tree of Life”
Fireandicedesigns: “Abundance of Love Fringe Bracelet” http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15924356
Jsglassart’s Stacey calls the Bay area in California home. She has been working in glass for 10 years and although she started out working in stained glass, she quickly fell in love with fused glass. At the present time she does mostly commissions and custom work and has been featured in several blogs. She is not only an active member of CGGE but also of the San Francisco Etsy team (Sfetsy). Her blog is: http://jsglassart.com/blog/.

Michelle of Fire and Ice Designs hails from British Columbia and also started out in stained glass. Along the way she worked in various mediums and then discovered lampworking.
she states that “the ony way to grow as an artist is to challenge yourself with new mediums and take big scary leaps in the process. Delving into glass as a molten medium has been an exciting, sometimes traumatic experience. It has challenged me and given me moments of joy as I bring a piece to life…I don’t just make and sell jewelry….I create precious art and wait patiently for a wonderful person to adopt it as their own.” Taking a risk has certainly paid off for Mishy.

The November challenge begins Nov. 1-25th and has as its theme: "Winter and Holidays".
Be sure and check out all the entries at http://www.flickr.com/groups/cggechallenge/ and vote for your favorite.
