Winter:
That magical time of year when the landscape changes to a crystalline vision of snowy lanes in the North, and perhaps a holiday-festooned palm tree for those in the South! Wherever you celebrate winter, CGGE wants you to look to the 4th season to find inspiration for the November challenge. Have fun celebrating the holidays, re-create a frosty scene in glass, turn down the temperature of your studio if you have to! Just feel winter in your bones and translate that to some beautiful challenge entries!
The contest begins November 1 and ends promptly at 11:59 PM on November 25th.
Each member may submit one entry only in stained, fused, lampworked or mosaic glass.
The entry must be listed in your Etsy shop.
All entries are to be posted to the CGGE Challenge Group site on Flickr.
Voting will be open to all Etsy members and the winner of the challenge will be featured on our CGGE Home Page.
So CGGE artists, let old man winter inspire you and create!

A Tie Vote!
A Tie Vote!
Voting for the 15 entries in the October “Thankful for” Challenge has resulted in not one but two winners.
We had a tie vote between jsglassart and fireandicedesigns.
Congratulations to them both for their beautiful entries:
Jsglassart: “Tree of Life”
Fireandicedesigns: “Abundance of Love Fringe Bracelet” http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=15924356
Jsglassart’s Stacey calls the Bay area in California home. She has been working in glass for 10 years and although she started out working in stained glass, she quickly fell in love with fused glass. At the present time she does mostly commissions and custom work and has been featured in several blogs. She is not only an active member of CGGE but also of the San Francisco Etsy team (Sfetsy). Her blog is: http://jsglassart.com/blog/.

Michelle of Fire and Ice Designs hails from British Columbia and also started out in stained glass. Along the way she worked in various mediums and then discovered lampworking.
In her blog: http://mishysfire.blog.spot.com/
she states that “the ony way to grow as an artist is to challenge yourself with new mediums and take big scary leaps in the process. Delving into glass as a molten medium has been an exciting, sometimes traumatic experience. It has challenged me and given me moments of joy as I bring a piece to life…I don’t just make and sell jewelry….I create precious art and wait patiently for a wonderful person to adopt it as their own.” Taking a risk has certainly paid off for Mishy.

The November challenge begins Nov. 1-25th and has as its theme: "Winter and Holidays".
Be sure and check out all the entries at http://www.flickr.com/groups/cggechallenge/ and vote for your favorite.

CGGE October Challenge
CGGE October Challenge
The theme for the CGGE’s October Challenge is “Thankful For….”
As the title implies, this is a good time of year for all of us to think of the things in our lives that we are thankful for -- our families, our health, our freedoms, and so much more. Each person’s blessings are as diverse as their individuality. Therefore, we encourage you to pause, observe and reflect on the things that bring you joy, serenity and happiness. Visualize in your mind a work of art that encompasses those feelings. Now head for the studio and create your inspired entry for this month's CGGE Challenge using the theme "Thankful for....".
The contest begins October 1 and ends promptly at 11:59 PM on October 25th.
So CGGE artists, put your thinking caps on again this month and let the world know what you’re especially thankful for in you life.
